Allegany Rehabilitation Associates, Inc. or "ARA". ARA is a not-for-profit corporation organized to provide psychiatric treatment, education, client management and housing, along with social and vocational rehabilitation of the mentally and physically handicapped, the elderly and the disadvantaged, and for the study and research thereof.
The corporation is authorized to own and operate outpatient programs certified by the New York State Office of Mental Health (OMH).
ARA was chartered in 1982 and began operation with its Traveling Teacher Program funded by the New York State Division for Youth and the Allegany County CETA office. In 1988, ARA assumed responsibility for the Allegany County Mental Health Clinic called “The Counseling Center”. ARA became accountable for the Wyoming County Mental Health Clinic in 1989. ARA PROS began operations in 2013.
