Youth Services
The Wyoming County Chemical Abuse Treatment Program provides
assessment, referral, and outpatient treatment geared toward helping adolescents
to improve their lives without the use of chemicals. The reasons why adolescents
use drugs are as varied as the dozens of substances available these days. One
thing is certain, nobody chooses to be come chemically dependent. While in
treatment, adolescents learn that chemical dependency is a disease which can not
be cured, but can be managed. Through abstinence, education, group therapy, and
by creating sober support system, teens and their families begin to rebuild
their lives and discover healthy ways to deal with life's challenges. Referrals
can be made by any parent or legal guardian. All calls and appointments are
confidential.
COA Group: Our COA (Children of Addictions) Group is a free education,
prevention, and support group for children ages 7-12 who live (or have lived) in
homes that have been affected by alcohol or drug abuse.
Through small group presentations, art therapy, and team building exercises,
children learn that addiction is a disease, appropriate ways to express
feelings, and refusal skills.
