Mission Statement:
The Counseling Center's mission is to engage consumers with a caring therapeutic relationship that encourages self-reliance. We provide comprehensive mental health services for residents of Allegany County in the state of New York. The aim of our counseling services is to assist the consumer to obtain clarity of diagnosis, treatment goals, and plans to achieve measurable objectives to improve personal and social functioning. Our mission is to empower our consumers with the ability to perceive themselves accurately and become better able to make positive choices and accept responsibility for those choices.

We offer a person-centered recovery model to assist the consumer to integrate into the community as a real contributor. The Center is dedicated to partnerships with other community caregivers in providing adequate supports for our consumers. We believe the model is significantly more cost effective than having to rely on hospitalization and other residential treatment options. We provide crisis intervention to restore the consumer to optimal functioning either by assisting to restore old useful coping skills or by teaching new skills that apply to his/her needs or wishes.

The Counseling Center was certified in January 1988. More than 1500 clients and family members are seen each year.
